New Zealand and our urban waste

Picture a world where our lakes and oceans contain more plastic that fish.  Where our local forests have been decimated and we live on a planet where we are experiencing the biggest mass extinction since the loss of dinosaurs.  A planet with no bees, so simple fruit, chocolate and coffee are no longer accessible.

Whilst this all sounds like the makings of a horror movie, multiple international studies claim that this is our future, and the reality is if we don’t stop polluting our planet, life as we know it will change.

New Zealand has a big part to play in changing current practices around sustainability and leading the world by example.  As it stands presently New Zealand is one of the worst countries in the world for producing urban waste.  The good news is that we have a small population and if we all start to change, even just a little, the impact will be massive.

Our whole trash economy in New Zealand has become outdated, and instead of throwing away everything that we produce, we need to be taking a more circular approach which means we eliminate our waste by reusing or recycling. (If you don't know where to start, you can check out our latest blog on reducing and upcycling here)

Our team at Au Natural Skinfood are passionate about coming up with solutions within our business model that eliminate single use plastic bottles.  We developed an entirely new natural skincare line, that includes refills for your recyclable aluminium bottles and jars, which we have made easy, delivered directly to the door of our subscribers, dramatically reducing the footprint normally associated with cosmetics. Au Natural Skinfood products feed your skin and look after our planet at the same time by eliminating single-use plastic bottles.
