Upcycling and minimising packaging

More so than ever before, consumers are becoming mindful about packaging that comes with the products we buy. The wasteful nature of beauty products comprising of plastics tubes or tubs packaged inside glossy card boxes is increasingly causing customers to change their shopping habits, especially when coupled with the plastic courier bags used for deliveries, packed out with foam pellets or air-filled plastic cushions.

While these glossy plastics may look appealing on the bathroom counter, the reality is that globally, we’re using 100 million tonnes of plastic materials a year, over 90% of which aren’t properly recycled. What’s more, each household is thought to throw away the equivalent of 13,000 pieces of paper a year, much of it in the form of product packaging and junk mail.

Increasingly, customers are realising that the only way to stop the problem is to demand and expect change in the way that goods are packaged.

This is part of the reason why you’ll notice an absence of plastic in your Au Natural Skinfood deliveries – we instead opt for reuseable an upcyclable aluminium containers for our products and compostable cardboard for our delivery materials.

Your purchasing power makes a difference, and when you make the choice to avoid products that contain needless and wasteful packaging in favour of simple and sustainable alternatives, you send a clear message to manufacturers and advertisers. At Au Natural Skinfood, we embrace environmental awareness and are proud that our customers do too. We remain committed to minimising our packaging, and hope you and the planet continue to benefit from the simplicity!
